Handmade Clay Figurine of a Seated Woman, inspired by a Middle Neolithic idol, ca. 5800–5300 BCE

This hand-sculpted clay figurine, crafted by Angeliki Dervenioti in autumn 2020, is inspired by an iconic Neolithic "Venus" figure found in Farsala, Thessaly, housed in the Archaeological Museum of Volos. The original figurine showcases distinctively exaggerated feminine forms, a hallmark of prehistoric fertility symbols linked to themes of prosperity and life. This one-of-a-kind piece reinterprets these ancient characteristics, capturing the timeless representation of womanhood and fertility revered in Neolithic Greece.
