Clay as a Canvas
September often feels like a new beginning — children return to school, and for adults it’s a time of fresh resolutions after the summer break. At our workshop, we welcome this spirit of renewal by looking back to the end of July, when we had the pleasure of hosting a young artist with a remarkable vision.

Nkosi Nesmith-Nelson, a recent UCLA Arts graduate and Student Volunteer at the American School Excavations in the Athenian Agora, joined us for a hands-on experience. Already deeply familiar with ancient Greek ceramics through his studies, Nkosi had long wished to understand the making process directly. At the workshop, he produced a series of striking ceramic tablets with modern, realistic designs — a vivid reminder that true talent can find expression in any medium.
At ATTIC BLACK, we believe that such encounters — where ancient craft meets contemporary art — keep the tradition alive and open new paths for creativity. They inspire us as we return to our own September resolutions and projects.
