Black-figure and black-glazed small spouted vessel with a handle
Similar small vases from the 5th century BCE are associated with children and are thought to have been used as feeding bottles. This vase's shape is inspired by ancient Athenian prototypes, ca. 430–420 BCE. The black-figure decoration, featuring elegant herons around the rim, draws from contemporary finely decorated spindle-whorls. In ancient art, herons, often found near water, symbolized grace, patience, and a close connection to nature.
This vessel can be used as a condiment container or for serving olive oil or dressings.
