Black-Figure Lekane with Calydonian Boar Hunting Scene
This beautiful black-figure shallow bowl (lekane) is inspired by ancient Greek vases from the 6th century BC, including the famous Francois Vase. It features a scene from the myth of the Calydonian Boar, where the hero Meleager leads a group of hunters to slay the wild boar sent by the goddess Artemis. The detailed artwork shows the action of the hunt and brings this ancient story to life.
First painted by our master vase painter, Vicky Xyda-Ralli, in 2020, this lekane is produced in limited quantities—only 2-3 are made each year. While it serves as a stunning decorative piece, it’s also a fully functional bowl, perfect for serving.
This lekane combines mythology, history, and craftsmanship, making it a unique addition to any collection or home.
